The best clothing to bring to a headshot shoot: clothing qualifies through color, texture, and style.
Color: solid colors are best. Avoid patterns. Black and bright whites can pose difficulties.
Texture: Clothing that has good texture, an interesting surface, works better than smooth and shiny fabric.
Style: bring a variety of styles from casual over date worthy to formal.
Favorite Clothes: if you have a piece of clothing you truly love and everybody is commenting you on, bring it, even if it doesn’t fit into the above tips. Maybe we can make it work. There are always exceptions to esthetic rules.
How to handle the choice of clothing: bring plenty of clothes to choose from. I suggest at least three different shirts of sweaters per look. Don’t worry about pants or skirts. They will not be in the picture. Same goes for shoes: pick shoes that you are comfortable in for the whole shoot. If a certain pair of shoes increases your confidence (high heels, ladies), bring them as an extra pair.
Preparation: I recommend ironing your clothes before the shoot. Take care they stay nice when you transport them – a big bag with a stiff bottom is best. Please make sure there are is no dust, hair, crumbs etc. on any of the clothes.
Make-up: I recommend using a make-up artist, who will also look after your hair. It can have great advantages for your skin tone. I can organize a make-up artist to be present during the shoot.
Plus: if you don’t choose to get a make-up artist, bring a comb/hair brush.
